Learn about the 1983 Corvette in this video: The world's only 1983 Corvette has long been shrouded with mystery. Why is it the only one? How did it manage to survive? How did it wind up at the National Corvette Museum? In this installment of the NCM Heritage Series, we track down the people who were there as this car made its trip from the plant, through the Milford Proving Grounds, and into Corvette history.

No 1983 Corvettes were sold to the public. The model year was skipped in preparation for the all-new 1984 Corvette, which launched the C4 generation. Forty-four Corvette prototypes were built as 1983 models. Only one remains, and it is on display at the National Corvette Museum, in Bowling Green, Ky.

Genovation's All-Electric Vehicle Breaks Speed Record

The Genovation Extreme Electric car (GXE) made history on July 28, 2016, by breaking the land speed record for a street-legal all-electric vehicle. The GXE reached the record-breaking speed of 205.6 mph during supervised tests with Johnny Bohmer Racing at Space Florida’s Shuttle Landing Facility in Kennedy Space Center, FL. The record was certified by the International Mile Racing Association (IMRA). The previous record, which also was held by Genovation, stood at 186.8 mph.

Corvette Generations: C5 Corvette Video

1997 began the first model year of the fifth generation Corvette, and Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles is back to detail all the improvements in the C5. The fifth generation had a larger amount of trunk space, moved the transmission to the rear and raised the rear for better aerodynamics. This Corvette also featured better technology like the head-up display and run-flat tires on all models, making it the best Corvette to date.
